“At the start of COVID, when everything came to a standstill, I chose to take on the challenge of making a life-size sculpture of myself using clay. What I thought would be a quick 2-week project ended up being 6 months! I measured every 10cm of my body and had to start from scratch three times, but I picked up some sculpting and armature skills along the way. Surprisingly, I also ended up learning a whole lot about myself emotionally and physically. It wasn't my original plan, but looking back, it makes sense considering how intimate and personal this sculpture was.“

"Clay is fragile, so I knew Clay Me would eventually collapse, and impulsively I chose to make a mould. I figured if I create 100 sculptures, Mould Me will repeatedly be reused and repurposed throughout my lifetime. At the time I was 31 yrs old so, if I live to 100 yrs old that’s approx 1.5 sculptures per year.”
Mould Me
A silicone fibre-glass mould of the Artist, to facilitate the making of the 100 sculptures.

“While the outline is based on my form, each cast in the We 100 project has the potential to have a unique identity. Each one can be a different material and collaboration. The idea for the project is for not only me, but those involved and the audience to look at things from a different perspective. Hence why the project transformed from ‘Me’ to ‘We’.”

“So far I have found satisfaction from overcoming obstacles and believe the journey, process, and feedback from the audience is far more interesting than the final outcome. Therefore, documenting the process and showcasing the used props is a vital part of the project. In most cases, the sculptures will no longer exist so the final piece is a video of the process.”
